EADA partners with Le Wagon for Tech Business Track

EADA announces a new partnership with leading training provider Le Wagon, Europe’s leading coding school with campuses around the world. Le Wagon provides 9-week full stack bootcamps to bring coding skills to creatives and entrepreneurs.

The partnership has resulted in a comprehensive extracurricular training programme called the EADA-Le Wagon Tech Business Track.

The EADA-Le Wagon Tech Business Track provides International Master and MBA participants with the unique opportunity to develop the technical skills to: collect feedback and validate a business idea, build an interactive prototype, and develop an understanding of product thinking, UX design and designers’ workflow.

According to Le Wagon Spain Founder Gus De Vita, the Track gives students a comprehensive vision of the processes and techniques related to conceptualising, creating and launching a tech product. “In such a quickly-evolving industry, there’s still a huge gap between business and tech,” he says. “Companies can no longer afford to rely on a small group of people to bring innovation to the table.”

Jodri Díaz, Associate Dean of EADA, describes the partnership with Le Wagon as part of EADA’s ongoing commitment to providing students with a valuable skill-set to wow prospective employers post-graduation. “We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the EADA experience and give our graduates that extra ‘added value’ in the company,” says Mr Díaz. “The partnership with Le Wagon is the latest example of this commitment: participants will leave EADA with practical, highly sought-after tech skills that will undoubtedly make a difference during the selection process.”

International Master in Management participant Brenda Odari confirms that the Track is key to achieving her career goal of joining the tech industry after graduation. “I want to learn how mobile products are created,” she says, “especially in a world where technology is changing so quickly and we are all struggling to keep up.”

Brenda’s classmate Théo Canale sees coding skills as essential for those exploring careers outside of the tech industry as well. “The Track will help me better understand how to bring IT-based disruption to the table at a limited cost,” he says. “Even if you don’t want to work in the IT field, having a basic understanding of computer programming and application development is a must in today’s job market.”

In such a quickly-evolving industry, there’s still a huge gap between business and tech. Companies can no longer afford to rely on a small group of people to bring innovation to the table.

The track: learning how to build a tech product

The EADA-Le Wagon Tech Business Track is offered to students in all of EADA’s full time Master and MBA programmes, with the kick-off event held in November during the first trimester. The tailor-made programme is specially designed for EADA students and is divided into three modules:

  • Product Design: prototype your product
  • Web Development: build and launch a website online
  • Programming & APIs: coding fundamentals and APIs

Participants can opt to take part in one or more of the modules for a fee, and those who successfully complete each module receive a certificate.

Each module includes an in-house training session plus 20-30 hours of online work. The training is project-based to ensure that participants learn practical, real-world skills that they can apply to their career after graduation.

The modules: decode how startup developers think and work

On December 1, 2018, the first module will be launched. Participants will take part in a one-day product design sprint focused on understanding user needs, defining user journeys, designing an app interface and building an interactive prototype.

According to Le Wagon Spain Founder Gus De Vita, the modules will give students the tools to conceptualise, create and launch a tech product.

The second module will take place in January of 2019, and will be dedicated to the highly-sought after skill of web development. During this module, participants will build a simple HTML web site, incorporating best CSS practices, configuring a domain name, and integrating third party services for payments and/or newsletters.

The third and final module will be held in March of 2019, and will focus on programming and APIs. The Le Wagon team will lead students in developing the skills to write programming scripts to extract data from web sites, manipulate data and/or automate time-consuming tasks, and understand the benefits of APIs.

The EADA-Le Wagon Tech Business Track provides students with the “big picture” perspective on tech that today’s companies demand in business leaders across all sectors. Gone are the days when business leaders don’t need to be technical – even “traditional” companies are starting to look more and more like tech companies, with technologically literate leaders that know how to mitigate the latest benefits and challenges of the latest advances.
