Finance & Accounting students travel to Frankfurt for the International Business Trip

Last month, more than 65 students from the EADA finance masters travelled to Frankfurt for the International Business Trip 2019. The Trip included participants from three of EADA’s International Master programmes: the International Master in Finance, Master Internacional en Finanzas – Bilingüe and International Master in Accounting & Financial Management.

As one of the most important financial and economic hubs of Europe, the German city of Frankfurt is the ideal setting for students to deepen their understanding of finance and build on what they have learned in class. The city left a positive impression on Finance student Dario Brichese. “I now see Frankfurt as a city in continuous development, with a mix of historical neighbourhoods and a modern financial district,” he says. “It has a hustle and bustle that only large metropolises do, and, after the trip, it is a place where I would consider developing my future career.”

The International Business Trip included visits to a wide range of high profile companies and institutions in the finance sector including the European Central Bank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Börse Frankfurt), E&Y and BearingPoint Consulting. The visits gave participants the opportunity to flex the sectorial knowledge and analytical thinking skills gained in the first two trimesters of the Master programmes. To complement the company visits, EADA students attended a tailor-made class at the prestigious Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

For Master Internacional en Finanzas – Bilingüe participant Julia Ontiveros, the company visits and networking opened door for her professional career after graduation. “We visited key companies and institutions – the places where things happen. Being able to meet and talk to leaders in the sector will leave a mark on our futures.”

According to Oriol Orrit from the International Master in Accounting & Financial Management, the International Business Trip offered a unique take on EADA’s “Learning by Doing” methodology. “The Trip was a great opportunity to get to know the city of Frankfurt, spend time with peers, and see something different. Visiting the companies and institutions of Frankfurt gave me the chance to see different potential employers and to make meaningful connections with them.”

Aside from the obvious advantages that connecting with senior professionals in the industry, participants consistently highlighted the quality time spent with classmates in Frankfurt. Director of the Finance programmes Jaume Bonet confirms that the objective of the International Business Trip is two-fold. “On the one hand, it is a great opportunity for students to see the professional activities of one of the main European financial hubs,” he says, “but, maybe even more importantly, the trip reinforces the network and friendships among Master classmates.”
