Lora Duro is a student from Boston who is currently following our Master in Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Management here in EADA. She worked as a procurement associate in LabCentral facilitating procurement operations for over 70 high potential biotech and life science startups.
Having studied biology and worked in the business side of biotech, Lora realised there was a gap between science and business. She saw the Master in Pharma & Biotech Management as the perfect opportunity to learn about integrating these two aspects of this vastly growing industry.
Why did you choose to take the Master in Pharma & Biotech at EADA?
Having studied biology and worked in the business side of biotech, I realised there was a gap between science and business. I saw EADA’s Master in Pharma & Biotech Management as the perfect opportunity to learn about integrating these two aspects of this vastly growing industry. With EADA’s focus on soft skills and leadership, I knew this would be the best place to foster my growth as a future leader and liaison, while also being immersed in an international setting.
What aspects of the programme would you highlight?
For me, the courses in the Residential Training Centre at EADA are unbeatable. Here you go through a unique journey of discovering what kind of leader you are, how you work in teams, and how to improve on the soft skills necessary for becoming a great manager. In the business world, the soft skills are often overlooked, so having these intensive courses to sharpen these skills is extremely rewarding, not just professionally but personally, too.

What do you think of the methodology in class and the professors?
The case study methodology is not only effective for active learning of the material, but it is also a great way to learn how people from other backgrounds think. In doing so, it makes you challenge your own ideas and build from one another. The professors come with extensive experience in the industry and are amazing facilitators when it comes to class discussion. They provide us with the necessary tools to tackle real world business issues. EADA’s focus on teaching students how to think, instead of what to think, makes it a much more personalized growing experience.
How is the master preparing you for your career goals?
The Master in Pharma & Biotech Management is helping me to learn the intricacies of the industry, the scope of the business market, as well as the soft skills to be a leader. After finishing this master, I will come out with the confidence knowing I can effectively manage a team and be a liaison between the science and business sectors in the pharmaceutical and biotech world.
