A day in the life of student Elias Rahme

At first I was hesitant about living in Barcelona during a global pandemic. I feared having to come all the way to Barcelona just to be stuck quarantining at home. I decided to come regardless. Barcelona is more open than most major European cities and EADA Business School is dedicated to keep face-to-face classes ongoing.

Mid-pandemic life in Barcelona remains vibrant. You can have lunch at a restaurant from 1-4 pm. Deliveries and take-aways are still available for dinner. The city is full of life, and everyone has a mask on. University campuses are open, so there are a lot of international students everywhere around the city.

Curfew is currently at 10 pm, so bars and clubs are closed. Barcelona is not the same without the nightlife, but that has its advantages when it comes to waking up early for EADA classes. Besides, we still have our lunches outside with friends and other students to know more people and enjoy the multicultural environment we have.

In a city that is heavily dependent on tourism, Barcelona’s hotel industry was hardly hit by the Covid restrictions. To overcome this, a lot of hotels are offering long-term stays at reasonable prices. I took advantage of this and I am currently living in a hotel. Honestly, it’s going great.

First thing I do in the morning is go for the hotel breakfast. Then, I head to class. What used to be a 20-minutes walk is now a fun 6 minutes scooter ride. If you are coming to Barcelona, I advise you to invest in an electric scooter. It is the most convenient way to get around town and enjoy the special architecture this city offers!

This program has allowed me to strengthen my knowledge in the healthcare industry and to better position myself as a candidate for interesting job opportunities in the field.

The masters program in Pharma and Biotechnology Management has proven to be very insightful. The teachers are highly experienced in their fields, coming from various corners of the healthcare industry. After classes, I am usually hanging out with my classmates, either working on a project or just enjoying some tapas and cervezas for lunch. In my free time I am either working out, exploring the city or hanging out with friends. My friends and I are usually outdoors, on rooftop terraces, in parks, or by the beach enjoying the beautiful Barcelonian weather.

EADA has provided me with a chance to expand my network. I have had the opportunity to create lifelong friendships with great people from around the world.
