Madrid Immersion Week 2022

From April 4th to April 8th, International Master in FinTech and Business Analytics participants spent an immersion week at ISDI campus in Madrid. During these five days participants had the chance to boost their innovation skills by attending Masterclasses with FinTech experts, visiting companies in the tech and software/digital sector, and practicing with workshops that stimulated their creativity, innovation and critical thinking.

Our FinTech participants spent a week in Madrid at ISDI headquarters, visiting companies ranging from Microsoft (trying their Hololens), Movistar riders and getting to know the e-sports, receiving visits from digital financiers like Orange Bank, etc. It really presented a range of practical dimensions of FinTech and Business Analytics to our participants.”

Rauschan Kretzschmar, Master in FinTech and Business Analytics director.

During the masterclasses, participants had the opportunity to listen to experts such as: Gabriela V. Orille, Global Digital Wealth Management & Insurance Director at Banco Santander; Alejandro Zala, Country Manager at BitPanda; and Gema Perea, Chief Operations Officer at Orange Bank Spain. Each of them share their success stories and teach the participants the future trends in the industry.

Participants visited Microsoft and had the chance to get to know more about this company. They also visited Movistar Riders, one of the leading eSports clubs in Europe and the only one with a high performance centre for professional e-players.

In addition to the company visits, participants attended cutting-edge master classes and workshops with leaders in the field at ISDI headquarters in Madrid.  Participants had to practice their skills with these workshops:

  • Lego Serious Play Workshop – by Alejandro Molpeceres, Talent Growth Manager at ISDI
  • Design Thinking – by Consuelo Verdú, Innovation Builder consultant at NESTOR&CO
  • Pitching – by Daniel Twal, Head of Corporate Innovation at ISDI

We talked with Camila Medrano, an International Master in FinTech and Business Analytics participant about her experience.

What would you highlight of this experience?

Being able to meet professionals in the sector that are doing amazing things and are working on great projects within the fintech field was the best part as it showed us the potential of leveraging the learnings of our master.

Why do you think this Business Trip is important for your future career?

It motivated me to achieve greater things as I saw how women in the field were able to succeed and are making a difference not only in the sector but in the society as well.

What is your biggest takeaway from this Business Trip?

Realizing the real potential of the master as well as observing the different things that real companies are doing within the industry. The amount of projects that people are developing is incredible, which encourages the participants to keep on working in this field.
