Meet Manuel Fallaque from Peru, who has recently graduated from EADA’s International MBA programme. In the following interview, Manuel shares his incredible experiences from the last 11 months at EADA. We discuss the programme’s emphasis on innovation through the Corporate Innovation Challenge, the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, and the International Business trip to Singapore. Manuel also reflects on the leadership skills he acquired during his time at EADA, preparing him for success in a globalized world. Despite choosing the Structured Finance & Private Equity Path of Development (PoD), due to his interest in the finance world, Manuel highlights the programme’s focus on sustainability and business impact – the second PoD – aimed at accelerating change towards a more sustainable, value-driven world.
Why did you decide to embark on your journey at EADA by pursuing the International MBA?
I chose to pursue the International MBA at EADA for three primary reasons: its emphasis on leadership development, its focus on innovation and staying ahead of market trends, and its commitment to sustainability. I aimed to enhance my soft skills in managing diverse teams, expand my knowledge of innovative practices, and deepen my understanding of sustainable business practices. EADA’s holistic approach aligned perfectly with my career goals.
How would you characterize your experience at EADA during your time in the MBA programme?
My experience at EADA can be described as intense yet incredibly fulfilling. The MBA journey provided me with a wealth of knowledge through experienced professors and valuable insights shared by my teammates. What sets this programme apart is its practical approach, which allows us to apply theory through company visits, guest speakers, and engagement in real projects with organizations. This hands-on experience has been instrumental in deepening my understanding of business concepts and preparing me for real-world challenges.
What have you learned from your MBA that you can apply on a daily basis?
My MBA journey has equipped me with valuable skills that I can apply daily. I have learned effective team management techniques, fostering collaboration and motivation for optimal performance. Additionally, I have developed the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, ensuring the timely completion of projects. The knowledge acquired from professors and fellow students is invaluable, as it equips me with the tools to make informed decisions in various personal and professional situations. The practical cases discussed in class and simulations have provided a solid foundation for decision-making and problem-solving.
What was your most memorable moment at EADA?
One of my most cherished memories at EADA was during our Business trip to Singapore. It was an incredible experience filled with enriching activities and learning opportunities. The classes were exceptional, taught by outstanding professors. Visiting renowned companies like Engie and Mastercard provided valuable insights into their market strategies and innovative approaches. Witnessing their commitment to research and development, as well as their focus on sustainability goals, was truly inspiring. Singapore exemplifies the importance of innovation and sustainability in shaping the future of businesses.
What are the key learning takeaways from the MBA Entrepreneurship Bootcamp?
The key learning takeaways from the MBA Entrepreneurship Bootcamp are twofold. Firstly, it is crucial to create a safe and supportive environment where ideas can flow freely and be improved upon. Embracing this mindset fosters innovation and enables the generation of diverse ideas. Secondly, a fundamental lesson is to question existing practices and approaches, aiming to create or enhance value. This critical thinking mindset encourages continuous improvement and drives entrepreneurial thinking to create a meaningful impact.
Tell us about the Structured Finance and Private Equity Path of Development (PoD) that you chose. What doors can it open in the future?
I chose this PoD to broaden my expertise as a Corporate Banker and explore new horizons in the Finance field. This programme exceeded my expectations, providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience that combined theory with real-world applications, including negotiation simulations. The PoD has equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge, enhancing my confidence and readiness for future challenges. I believe this specialization offers exciting prospects, opening doors to diverse opportunities in private equity, investment banking, and related fields. The practical insights and financial acumen gained through this PoD will undoubtedly have a tangible impact on my career, enabling me to make informed decisions and contribute effectively to the finance industry.
And what about the Business trip to Singapore? What new perspectives on technologies, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0 did you gain during your time in Singapore?
The business trip to Singapore offered a profound perspective on technology, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0. Singapore’s rapid development into a technological and financial hub within a short period showcased the power of continuous investment in the future. The trip highlighted the importance of sustainability and harmonizing human society with the environment. Witnessing Singapore’s embrace of digital innovation emphasized the need for organizations to adapt to the ever-evolving digital landscape to stay competitive.
What were the main companies that you visited in Singapore that impacted you the most and why?
The company that impacted me the most during my visit to Singapore was Mastercard. Witnessing the various initiatives undertaken by Mastercard to maintain and improve its market position left a lasting impression. Their focus on innovation and sustainability sets them apart, showcasing their commitment to adapting to the rapidly changing world. It highlighted the importance for companies to stay vigilant and proactive in order to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Tell us about how you prepared the final project. What knowledge learned at EADA did you apply to this project?
My final project involved creating a completely new business model for one of the world’s largest companies focusing on sustainability. Due to confidentiality, I am unable to discuss specific project details. However, the project was initiated by an EADA alumnus, and our team worked on it for six months. The knowledge and tools acquired at EADA played a pivotal role in preparing for this endeavor. We conducted numerous meetings and interviews with company representatives, EADA professors, and industry experts. This project pushed us to apply the knowledge and experience gained throughout our professional careers, as well as the invaluable insights gained from EADA, which were essential in developing the project.
What about Barcelona? What are the most attractive things about this city for you?
I can confidently say that Barcelona is simply unique. The weather, food, architecture, and the friendly people make you feel right at home. Barcelona serves as a hub for startups in this region, offering a plethora of programs that aid in their growth. How do you envision your professional future once you have completed the MBA? What are your future career plans, and how did your MBA studies prepare you to achieve them?
After completing the MBA, I am returning to my field of banking. I have recently been hired as a Deputy Manager in Corporate Banking at BCP, the largest bank in Peru. Looking ahead, I plan to take on more responsibilities and lead larger teams. The skills and knowledge I gained during my MBA studies will provide a solid foundation for my professional growth at BCP and beyond.

I would highly recommend this MBA programme to individuals who aspire to build a career in the corporate world or entrepreneurship.
