At EADA, we understand the importance of practical, hands-on experience in preparing our students for the dynamic world of finance. That’s why we’ve established strategic collaborations with several industry leaders in the fintech and analytics landscape. This collaboration allows us to offer our students invaluable opportunities to apply their skills in real-world settings through small-scale projects for their Final Master’s Thesis. This year, the participants of our Master in Fintech & Business Analytics are collaborating with three different companies: Baboon Technologies, Gesinter and Forgeflow.
Baboon Technologies is a fintech company specialized in developing software for the financial industry. They also manage a quantitative hedge fund where they use cutting edge machine learning models to make automatic decisions on their investments.
Gesinter is an experienced investment company based in Barcelona. They manage a wide range of products and use a systematic approach when trading and investing to provide performance results to their customers.
Forgeflow is a software company specialized in Odoo, an open-source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) developed in Python. They provide consulting services to help companies smoothly transition to their new ERP.
With Baboon Technologies and Gesinter, our students dive deep into the realm of financial analytics. They leverage Python programming and cutting-edge machine learning techniques to analyze stock data and craft innovative trading strategies. The goal of this project is to analyze financial data under specific circumstances, like when markets stop being efficient, and calculate the optimal trading decisions to increase their risk adjusted returns.
During this collaboration our students are not just applying theoretical financial concepts. They get insights from real world practitioners working with actual real-time data, feedback from their work from people that are experts in their field and enhance their network with industry leaders.
In parallel, our partnership with Forgeflow allows our students to immerse into the world of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and manufacturing operations. Here, students delve into the heart of business processes, working alongside industry professionals to enhance ERP systems and streamline operations for greater efficiency.
The goal of this collaboration is the improvement of the key performance indicators (KPIs) dashboarding tool, essential for monitoring and optimizing manufacturing processes. Leveraging their business knowledge and analytical skills, our students conduct in-depth research to identify the most powerful KPIs tailored to manufacturers. From production cycle times to inventory turnover ratios, every metric is meticulously analyzed to understand which ones will bring the most valuable insights to the operations of the business.
During this collaboration, students also use their SQL knowledge to extract and process information from the databases to calculate the KPIs. They put into practice their python skills by developing the necessary code for calculating analytics and displaying them in the dashboard.
At EADA we understand that developing a master thesis is not about writing a theoretical report disconnected from the industry. It is an opportunity to put the skills you have developed in class into practice. With these collaborations, our students learn through real-world projects through adding value to the companies and gaining valuable experience. Bridging the gap between theory and practice is most important when teaching the future leaders in finance and technology.
